Texas Regional Bank Gives Trey Willerson Expanded Leadership of $4bn Wealth Division
Trey Willerson has been appointed president of TRB Trust & Wealth Management while retaining his role as chief investment officer of the Texas-based division.
Texas Regional Bank has appointed Trey Willerson president of TRB Trust & Wealth Management, extending his responsibilities across a business managing more than $4 billion in assets.
Willerson will remain chief investment officer, combining the presidency with oversight of the investment philosophy and portfolio discipline of the Houston-headquartered wealth division.
He joined Texas Regional Bank in 2024 as CIO.
The appointment gives the division continuity in investment leadership while broadening Willerson's executive responsibility.
Wealth management within a wider banking relationship
TRB Trust & Wealth Management provides investment management and fiduciary administration supported by financial planning and family-office capabilities.
Operating within a wider banking group can be particularly relevant for entrepreneurial and business-owning families.
Their financial requirements may extend beyond investment management into credit, business banking, liquidity, trusts, estate administration and other services.
The ability to consider those issues together can become more valuable as family wealth becomes increasingly connected to privately held businesses and multigenerational structures.
Combining investment and fiduciary expertise
Texas Regional Bank says its wealth division combines local professionals across the state with centralized investment and fiduciary capabilities.
Willerson's senior team includes John Tippit, Bobby Farris and Brian Cafferky.
Cafferky serves as chief operating and compliance officer and joined TRB in 2024 following more than two decades of experience in financial-services operations.
For substantial private clients, operational and fiduciary disciplines can be as important as portfolio construction.
Trust administration, compliance and continuity all become more significant as wealth passes between generations.
Continuity as the business expands
Willerson's dual role provides continuity between the division's investment approach and its wider strategic development.
For private banks and wealth managers, that integration is becoming increasingly important.
Families rarely view investment portfolios in isolation from the businesses, trusts and long-term structures around them.
TRB's expanded leadership model reflects an effort to address those requirements within a single wealth platform while maintaining regional client relationships across Texas.
