First Citizens Bank has formally launched First Citizens Innovation Banking, the division succeeding Silicon Valley Bank’s Technology & Healthcare Banking business, alongside First Citizens Fund Banking, which will serve private equity and venture capital clients.

The bank said the two brands form part of its reorganisation of specialist banking services following its acquisition of Silicon Valley Bank’s business. First Citizens Innovation Banking will continue to serve technology, life sciences and healthcare companies, as well as investors and businesses operating in the innovation economy in the United States and internationally.

First Citizens Innovation Banking draws on a specialist banking operation with more than 40 years of experience serving start-ups, high-growth companies and investors. The division provides commercial banking products, sector expertise and professional connections, including support for international companies requiring US banking services.

First Citizens Fund Banking is being established to serve the bank’s private equity and venture capital client base. The announcement follows an earlier statement that the Silicon Valley Bank division would adopt the First Citizens Innovation Banking and First Citizens Fund Banking names. The former Silicon Valley Bank Wine Division has also been renamed First Citizens Bank.

Frank Holding Jr., chairman and chief executive of First Citizens Bank, said the new branding reflects the bank’s intention to retain the specialist relationships and capabilities associated with Silicon Valley Bank while drawing on the resources of the wider First Citizens organisation. He said investment in the innovation banking business remains a priority for the group.

Marc Cadieux, president of First Citizens Innovation Banking, said the change of name does not alter the division’s focus on founders, entrepreneurs and investors. The business will continue operating in US innovation centres and serving internationally based companies with US banking requirements.

To accompany the launch, First Citizens introduced a marketing campaign titled “Where Silicon Valley Banks”. The campaign is scheduled to appear across digital, print and outdoor advertising in selected US markets and at industry events during 2026, including technology and healthcare conferences.

First Citizens Bank is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, and provides banking services to consumers, businesses and entrepreneurs. Its parent, First Citizens BancShares, Inc., is listed on Nasdaq under the ticker FCNCA. The bank reported that the parent company had more than US$225 billion in assets at the time of the announcement.

First Citizens Innovation Banking operates as a division of First Citizens Bank. Its services cover companies in technology, life sciences and healthcare, with a focus on commercial banking and specialist sector relationships.
