Give Interactive, a financial technology platform for charitable giving vehicles, has launched Give Legacy Fund, a new product that allows donor-advised fund (DAF) sponsors to offer individual families their own perpetual giving and estate legacy vehicles. The platform takes the investment structure and spending discipline typically used by university, hospital and foundation endowments and packages it as a product any sponsor on the Give Interactive platform can offer, sized to an individual family's giving strategy.

Replicating institutional endowment structures

Perpetual, endowment-style giving has historically been available mainly to institutions with formal spending policies set by a board. Families seeking the same "give forever" structure previously had to establish a private foundation or ask a sponsor to build a bespoke arrangement, typically reserved for only the largest relationships. Give Legacy Fund allows portfolios to be built as commingled or pooled strategies, direct private investments, separately managed accounts, or a combination, and lets fund holders set distribution as a fixed dollar amount, a percentage of fund value, or a blend of both.

Automated compliance and bulk administration

The platform automates compliance work sponsors have historically managed by hand or outsourced, including monitoring of excess business holdings rules under Section 4943, spending policy compliance, and minimum balance thresholds. It also allows administrators to rebalance an entire book of funds to target allocations in a single action, and includes product management modules for longer-duration public and private portfolios. Give Legacy Fund can be priced and billed separately from a sponsor's standard DAF fee structure, giving administrators a distinct revenue stream.

Why it matters for sponsors and families

Lucas Cherry, Founder and Chief Executive of Give Interactive, said: "Over the past decade, we've continued to see more demand for private-foundation and family-office-style tools inside the donor-advised fund and charitable administration space. Families have wanted advanced current and legacy giving tools for their own philanthropy, but there was no real way to offer it outside a private foundation or a sponsor's largest relationships." He added that the product was "built alongside some of the industry's leading financial services and foundation clients" and is the first in a series of new offerings planned over the next 12 to 18 months.

The company says the product lets sponsors capture assets and relationships that might otherwise go to private foundations, while extending engagement with donor families into multi-generational estate planning. Give Legacy Fund is available now to Give Interactive's administration and software clients, which include donor-advised fund sponsors, community foundations and private foundations.
