Founder, Tokamak Energy Ltd

Dr David Kingham is a founder of Tokamak Energy. As CEO from 2009 to 2017 he led the company through several investment rounds, raising about £20m, during which it developed and tested the first tokamak to use exclusively high-temperature superconducting magnets. He initiated the ST40 compact spherical tokamak project, which reached 100-million-degree plasma temperature in 2022, and built the magnet engineering team behind a 26.2 tesla HTS magnet tested at CERN. He was previously CEO of Oxford Innovation.
