Standard Metrics Raises $20M Series B Led by 8VC
The platform, used by more than 150 venture capital and private equity firms managing over $400 billion in assets, will use the funding to expand AI-driven portfolio reporting and analytics tools.
Standard Metrics, the AI-driven portfolio management platform for venture capital and private equity, has raised $20 million in Series B funding led by 8VC, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Spark Capital, January Capital, First Trust Capital Partners, Socii Capital, Kindergarten Ventures, Calm Ventures and Gaingels, among others. The company launched in 2020 to automate and improve collaboration between investors and their portfolio companies, and has since evolved into what it describes as a single source of truth for portfolio performance and investment data, with benchmarks and investment insights. The platform supports more than 10,000 portfolio companies and 150 firms managing over $400 billion in assets, and the company says 30% of the current Forbes Midas List are customers.
AI tools for portfolio reporting
Standard Metrics has launched AI document parsing, an on-platform AI Analyst, MCP interoperability, and AI-native services to assist with data operations and portfolio analytics, aiming to help investors streamline portfolio reviews, valuations, LP reporting and diligence. The company says it has grown its business by approximately 20 times since its Series A. The new capital will be used to deepen AI capabilities, expand its team, and bring the platform to more private market investors and portfolio companies.
John Melas-Kyriazi, co-founder and CEO of Standard Metrics, said: "Our mission at Standard Metrics is to accelerate innovation in the private markets. This Series B round is a vote of confidence from investors who believe, as we do, that the firms who embrace AI now will be the ones defining the next era of the private markets." Alex Moore, board member at Standard Metrics and Partner at 8VC, which co-founded the company in 2020, said the round reflected "tremendous opportunity ahead for AI to transform the private markets."
Why it matters for private wealth
Reporting infrastructure of this kind sits behind the scenes of family office and institutional allocation decisions to venture capital and private equity funds. Faster, more standardised portfolio company data and AI-assisted valuations and LP reporting could reduce the administrative burden on allocators conducting diligence and ongoing monitoring across large private markets portfolios.
