Rothschild & Co Appoints Samantha Beach to Manchester Wealth Team
The appointment adds a former Barclays Private Bank adviser to a regional team of more than 20, as private banks compete for entrepreneurial wealth created outside London.
Rothschild & Co has appointed Samantha Beach as a Director and Client Adviser in its UK Wealth Management business in Manchester. Beach joins from Barclays Private Bank, where she spent more than a decade advising individuals, founders and families across the North of England. She has more than 20 years of experience in private banking and wealth management, and previously held senior client-facing roles at Coutts & Co. The hire adds senior client coverage to a regional operation that the firm says now employs more than 20 people, and comes as advisory firms compete for wealth created by business owners outside London.
A regional build-out, not a satellite office
Rothschild & Co's Manchester wealth management presence was established more than a decade ago by Peter Hindle, now UK Head of Client Teams for the wealth business. What began as a small regional foothold has become the anchor of a UK network that also includes Birmingham, Guernsey, Leeds and London. The firm says assets under management in UK Wealth Management have nearly doubled over the past six years, and reports Wealth and Asset Management assets of approximately EUR 143 billion across the group.
Hindle said the appointment reflects an intention to continue expanding the firm's regional footprint and capabilities across the UK. Beach's arrival follows a broader pattern among private banks and wealth managers of placing senior, locally connected advisers in regional cities rather than servicing those relationships from London desks — a response to client expectations of proximity as much as to competitive pressure.
Business-owner liquidity as the coverage model
The commercial logic of the Manchester team rests on the point at which private company ownership converts into investable wealth. Rothschild & Co says its regional wealth managers work alongside colleagues in Global Advisory and Arrowpoint, its mid-market advisory arm, so that shareholders selling businesses are covered on both the transaction and the post-sale side. Corporate finance teams advise on the sale; the wealth management team advises on structuring, investing and planning around the proceeds.
That model matters disproportionately outside London. The North of England and the Midlands hold a large share of the UK's owner-managed and family-controlled companies, and the wealth attached to them is typically illiquid until a sale, refinancing or partial exit occurs. Advisers who are present locally before that event, rather than introduced after it, tend to be better placed to win the mandate that follows.
Why it matters for private wealth
For family offices and wealth owners, the practical significance of appointments of this kind is coverage depth rather than headcount. A regional adviser with two decades of experience across two private banks brings existing relationships with the accountants, corporate financiers and solicitors who tend to shape decisions at the point of a liquidity event. For competitors, the appointment is a reminder that the contest for first-generation entrepreneurial wealth is increasingly being fought in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham rather than in the City.
Rothschild & Co is family-controlled and independent, and operates across Global Advisory, Wealth and Asset Management, and its alternative assets arm. Growth figures and asset totals cited here are as reported by the firm.
