Vistria Group Takes Strategic Stake in $14bn Chicago RIA Curi Capital
The middle-market private investment firm becomes an ownership partner alongside Curi Capital's employee owners, backing a platform that includes a decades-old family office practice.
Curi Capital, a registered investment adviser with more than $14 billion in assets under advisement, has announced a strategic investment from The Vistria Group, a middle-market private investment firm with $18 billion in assets under management. Under the deal, expected to close in late September 2026, Vistria will become an ownership partner alongside Curi Capital's employee owners and existing shareholders, including Curi and Wealth Partners Capital Group.
Funding technology, hiring and M&A
The investment is intended to fund technology upgrades, talent acquisition, client experience initiatives and further mergers and acquisitions. Curi Capital said it expects to pursue additional growth through acquiring like-minded RIAs to expand into new geographies, with Wealth Partners Capital Group continuing to play a leadership role in sourcing deals. Curi Capital Chief Executive Dimitri Eliopoulos said: "From our first conversations with Vistria, it was clear we shared a common philosophy about serving clients, supporting employees, and building a business for the long-term."
A decades-old family office practice
Curi Capital serves clients ranging from mass affluent and high-net-worth individuals to business owners and medical professionals, alongside a family office practice with more than 40 years of history that brings together more than 20 professionals and senior relationship managers delivering wealth planning, investment advisory, tax planning and administrative services to multi-generational families.
Mike Castleforte, Senior Partner and Co-Head of Financial Services at The Vistria Group, said Curi Capital "has built an exceptional business rooted in trusted client relationships and a clear vision for the future." Fellow Co-Head Boris Rapoport said the firm's ability "to serve clients across the wealth spectrum, from a dedicated mass affluent offering to a family office practice built over decades for multi-generational families, is exactly the kind of durable, full-service platform we look to back."
Curi Capital traces its roots to RMB Capital, founded in Chicago in 2005, which merged with Curi Capital in 2024. The firm is headquartered in Chicago with 12 offices across eight states and the District of Columbia. William Blair advised Vistria on the transaction; Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton advised Curi and Curi Capital.
